Big Pour Volunteers
STORE AND RECYCLING CENTER CLOSED MON, SEPT 3 & SAT, SEPT 8TH!
CUSTOMER STORAGE OF PURCHASED ITEMS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE BETWEEN AUG 31 AND SEPT 8 BECAUSE WE NEED THE SPACE FOR THE STEEL CITY BIG POUR. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

The Steel City Big Pour is Construction Junction's only fundraiser. In its 6th year, the Big Pour offers the opportunity for patrons to try amazing food from great restaurants, listen to live music and check out the local art scene, as well as, try many of the amazing local craft beers. Behind the scenes, staff and Big Pour committee members begin meeting in April to start the process of planning and coordinating the event. In the weeks leading up to the second Saturday in September, Construction Junction staff is almost completely inundated with Big Pour responsibilities. We clear out the back of our storage space, string thousands of carnival lights, and begin to spit shine every surface in sight.
This is where our loyal fans and friends come in. We know people love coming to the event but the truth is we need a lot of help to make this awesome fundraising event run smoothly. If you would love the opportunity to be a Big Pour volunteer, please give us a call and we'll get you set up! The day is split up into two seperate volunteer shifts, 9 am to 2 pm and 1 pm to 7pm. We are asking for help with both sessions; you can work just one session or both -- we would love to have you! Responsibilities include load-in help, vendor services (simply making sure all the vendors have everything they need and if not, getting it for them), parking attendants, and ticketing. Volunteers are given a crew t-shirts and are allowed to partake in the festivities for the last hour of the session they volunteered for! There will be two volunteer orientation sessions: Thursday, August 30th at 5:30 pm and Saturday, September 1st at 10 am. YOU MUST BE 21 OR OLDER TO VOLUNTEER.
If you are interested in being a Big Pour volunteer (and forever endearing yourself to our Community Outreach Coordinator) please contat Natalie by email at nderiso@constructionjunction.org

Community Design Center of Pittsburgh Home Renovation Workshop
August 25, 2012Considering renovating your home or small business? Would you like to receive personalized renovation advice from a professional designer? Then come to Construction Junction on Saturday August 25th, from 11am-2pm, for a free renovation mini-consultation!
Volunteers from the Design Consults program—architects, landscape architects, and interior designers— will be available to discuss exterior and interior renovation plans. It is very important to bring plenty of photos of your property to share with the consultants.
These mini-consultations serve to promote the formal Design Consults program, a signature program of the Design Center. This program provides affordable, on-site consultations to help property owners explore their renovation options, understand the impact of their investments, and realize the value of preservation and design. Whereas these mini-consults will last :15 minutes, a formal on-site Design Consult lasts up to two hours.
After the workshop, gather inspiration for your renovation by exploring Construction Junction’s unique and affordable inventory of home wares and recycled building materials.
The event is free to attend, so bring your family, friends and neighbors!
Please RSVP to Cate Rassman at (412)391-4144 ext. 24, or CRassman@cdcp.org.
